Mark Zuckerberg's Facebook

By

A website and service of social networking, Facebook was launched in February of two thousand four, privately owned and operated by Facebook, Incorporated.

As of the year '12, Facebook has had over eight hundred million users who are active. Before being able to use the site, users need to go through a process of registration.

After which, a profile which is personal can be created. You can then add other friends that use Facebook as well, include automatic notifications and exchange messages.

In addition, users can also join groups with common interests, organized by characteristics such as college, school or workplace. Friends can also be categorized into lists that include Close Friends or People from Work.

The service name comes from the colloquial book name that is assigned to students in the beginning of the scholastic year.

Founded by Mark Zuckerberg with his fellow students and college roommates Christ Hughes, Duston Moskovitz and Eduardo Saverin, the membership of the website was limited initially to the Harvard student founders.

Later, it was expanded to other Boston area schools, Stanford University and the Ivy League. Slowly, it added student support for students from other universities before beginning to be available for use by students in high school. Later, any person aged thirteen and up was able to use Facebook.

Facemash was written by Mark Zuckerberg which preceded Facebook on October of '03 while a sophomore in Harvard. The site, according to TheHarvardCrimson was comparable to HotorNot and utilized photographs compiled from the 9 houses, placing 2 beside each other at a time and letting others select their 'other person.'

In order to do this, Zuckerberg had to hack into Harvard computer protected areas and copied the private dorm houses ID images. At the time, Harvard at that time did not have a Facebook for students. There were four hundred fifty visitors and twenty-two thousand views of photos in the first 4 online hours.

Later, the site became forwarded to many list servers of campus groups bet was shutdown days later by the administration of Harvard.

The administration charged Zuckerberg with a security breach, with copyrights and individual privacies being violated causing him to face expulsion, but chargers were later dropped.

This initial project was later expanded by Zuckerberg by the creation of a tool for social studies ahead of a final for art history through the upload of five hundred Augustan images to a site, with 1 image per page with a section for comments. Later, he shared the website with his schoolmates and people began note-sharing.

The semester after, Zuckerberg began created codes for a new site for January of '04. According to him, he was inspired by the Facemash incident editorial on TheHarvardCrimson.

On '04, TheFacebook was launched by Zuckerberg, located originally at thefacebook.com.

About a week after this, 3 seniors from Harvard, Divya Narendra, Tyler Winklevoss and Cameron Winklevoss made accusations that Zuckerberg misled them intentionally into believing that he would assist in helping build them a social network called HarvardConnection.com when he was instead utilizing their idea in order to build a competition products.

Later, when filing a case versus Zuckerman, a settlement was made and Facebook remained to be Zuckerberg's.
